Upcoming CWSL and SDCBA events

Business Law Conference (Jan. 25, 11 a.m.-5:30 p.m., FREE): The Business Law Society presents the 85th Anniversary Securities Act of 1933 Business Law Conference on Thursday, Jan. 25. This on-campus event, free for all CWSL students, will feature panels on “Capital Formation in a Shrinking Market” and “Securities Fraud and Enforcement.” Panelists include former Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) commissioner Troy A. Paredes and former SEC Chief Counsel Marty P. Dunn.

Happy Hour/E-Discovery Bootcamp (Jan. 25, 5:30-8 p.m., FREE): Through live demos, hands-on experiments, and talks from technology experts, participants will learn about e-discovery techniques for cellphones, email servers, and social media. Technology experts from AccessData, Advanced Discovery, DTI, Elijah, Ernst & Young, Inventus, and PinPoint Labs will share their knowledge. Earn free raffle tickets throughout the night from the activities, for a raffle at the event of the evening. There will also be drinks and light appetizers. This event, hosted by San Diego’s Women in eDiscovery chapter, is free for all CWSL students.

“What’s New in Tort & Trial?” 2017-in-Review panel (Jan. 30, 5:30-8:45 p.m., FREE/$25): Four renowned plaintiffs’ attorneys will discuss 13 key California and Supreme Court cases decided in 2017. The speakers are Anjge Morovich Medina, Michael Penn, Jeremey Robinson, and Susan Swan. Light dinner will be served.

This event, co-hosted by the San Diego County Bar Association, Consumer Attorneys of San Diego, and Consumers Attorneys of California, is free for law students who are SDCBA members and $25 for non-SDCBA law students.

Mindful Meditation for Lawyers (Jan. 31, 12-1 p.m., FREE/$30): Learn how mindful meditation can alleviate the stresses of being in law school or being a practicing attorney. This event is free for law students who are SDCBA members and $30 for non-SDCBA law students.
